Judith: “Breathing Space gave me the encouragement to start my own business. I’m glad I did!”

Eden Food is a catering venture run by Judith Palfreyman,
supported by Breathing Space, Walsall and The Wesley Centre For All Ltd based at the Central Methodist Church, Wednesbury.
Judith has 30 years of experience in Catering in hospitals, schools, colleges, residential homes and restaurants. Judith has had experience from small scale catering (for Alpha courses) to large scale, fast service (at College), gaining management experience in schools, college and restaurants.

Judith believes in serving quality food using fresh, seasonal, locally sourced produce; supporting local businesses and serving the local community with healthy food, using Fair Trade products where possible, all at a competitive price.

‘Kindness through Catering’

Judith with Gerard McAspurn, one of two volunteers who followed Judith to Eden after the Age Concern Restaurant in Walsall sadly closed in December 2008. Judith has provided Work Experience for many people, some of whom have learning difficulties and would find entry to employment a daunting experience.

Judith has a concern especially for the elderly and vulnerable in society, in the areas of diet and social contact.

She is growing a business that provides training and employment opportunities for those who would normally find it difficult to secure a job through handicap or disability.

In the first year of trading, Eden Food has provided buffets for School Training Days, Birthday Parties, Family Funeral events, Christenings, Location Catering for Post Office Studios,  a Kids buffet for Action for Children, Easter Day breakfasts, Harvest Festival meals, Christmas Celebrations and the Methodist Conference which took place over 8 days in July 2009 at the Civic Hall, Wolverhampton!

This is all in addition to providing meals for a DayCare Luncheon Club, an Adult Learning Group and passers-by. A visioning meeting between Wolverhampton & Shrewsbury and Birmingham Districts of the Methodist Church is being held at King Edwards School, Handsworth on Saturday 15th May, Eden Food will be providing a breakfast and lunchtime menu for 250 delegates.

We will also be catering for events at the new Impact Community Company headquarters based at the Old Post Office in Wednesbury when it opens later on in 2010.
